Privacy Policy for Experdle
Effective Date: July 16, 2026
CraterGaming (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Experdle mobile application. This page describes how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use Experdle.
1. Information Collection and Use
Experdle is a local-first game: most play happens on your device. We also sync limited gameplay data to our servers and use analytics so the app can work across devices and we can improve the product.
Personal data we do not collect
We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, or similar account details. There is no sign-up or login screen.
Anonymous account identifier
On launch, Experdle creates an anonymous account (via Firebase Authentication). This assigns a random user ID used only to associate your synced game data. It is not linked to your real-world identity by us.
Data stored on your device
Game progress, clue balance, practice games, highlighter preferences, and local statistics are stored on your device (for example via on-device preferences). Some of this data may also be synced to the cloud as described below.
Data synced to our servers
When you play the daily challenge (and related features that sync), we may store on our servers (Firebase / Google Cloud), associated with your anonymous ID:
- Clue balance and streak information
- Daily challenge start and completion status (win/loss, attempts, clues used, date)
- Aggregate daily puzzle statistics (non-identifying counts such as how many players started or won)
Analytics and device identifiers
We use Firebase Analytics (Google) to understand how the app is used (for example completing a daily challenge or using a clue). Analytics may collect app activity and device or other identifiers (including advertising ID where permitted by the platform). We use this for app functionality and analytics, not for showing third-party ads in Experdle.
Advertising ID
Our Android build may declare use of advertising ID through Google/Firebase SDKs. We do not use it to serve ads in Experdle; it may be used by analytics services as described above.
2. In-App Purchases (Third-Party Services)
Experdle may offer optional in-app purchases (consumable clue packs). Purchases are processed by:
- Apple App Store (iOS)
- Google Play (Android)
- RevenueCat (purchase management / receipt validation), when enabled
We do not collect or store your payment card details. Purchase history may be processed by those platforms so we can grant clue packs. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies.
3. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Run and sync the daily challenge and clue balance
- Maintain streaks and related game features
- Measure and improve the app (analytics)
- Fulfill and restore eligible purchases
- Respond to support and data-deletion requests
4. Sharing
We share data with service providers that help us operate Experdle, including Google (Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Cloud Functions) and, when in-app purchases are enabled, Apple, Google Play, and RevenueCat. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Data retention
Anonymous account and synced gameplay data are retained while your anonymous account remains active and as needed to provide the service. Analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider’s settings and policies. Local data remains on your device until you clear app data or uninstall.
6. Children’s Privacy
Experdle is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
7. Data deletion requests
Experdle uses anonymous accounts. To request deletion of data associated with your use of the app (including cloud-synced game progress and analytics identifiers we control), email cratergamingcom@gmail.com with the subject line “Experdle data deletion request”.
Please include enough detail for us to locate your request (for example the platform you use—iOS or Android—and approximate dates you played). We will delete or anonymize associated data we control within a reasonable period after reviewing the request. Note that app stores and analytics providers may retain certain records under their own policies, and uninstalling the app removes local data on your device but does not by itself delete cloud data.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are posted.
